Thinking of Our Heavenly Mother

This was a thought provoking article that I'd like to share with the best mothers I know:

The Other Half of Heaven: Debunking Myths about Heavenly Mother

I thought this guy (an independent researcher for the Maxwell Institute at BYU) was right on target, and it is inspiring to take time and reflect upon who our Heavenly Mother is, her role in the eternities and our relationship with her. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Love you all this December evening.

  1. Pretty neat stuff! I'm totally guilty of blindly accepting myth #3.

My favorite line: "She stands beside the Father, as an equal partner and companion, not behind him. She and Heavenly Father together are the great role model for every couple who hope for an eternity together." That idea just totally resonated with me and I know it's true. How powerful to imagine them as a couple to model after!!

Thanks for sharing the article Lizzy! I always like reading about eternal matters while I'm in my work setting...the combination of the two worlds is invigorating. :)

  2. Lizzy! I'm so sorry it's taken so long to respond. The article brought up good points I didn't really think of before. The one that caught my attention was "Both President Harold B. Lee and President Spencer W. Kimball indicated that she can guide us here in mortality." What an amazing thought! I know Heavenly Father is there, and that he loves and listens, but it's some how even more comforting knowing I have an eternal Mother in Heaven who hears those prayers and consults with Heavenly Father. The combination of the two seems much more powerful than thinking of Heavenly Father doing it all. Not that Heavenly Father isn't all-knowing and all-poweful and unconditionally loving, but having another being who is all of that PLUS a woman and is Heavenly Father's companion through this Plan of Salvation is the coolest thought and feeling to me! I think it gives me more of a sense of FAMILY and BELONGING to Heavenly Father's eternal family.

Thanks for sharing Lizzy, I loved the article and the feeling of peace it brought tonight.
