Today's quote

"What a wife might consider to be "continuous encouragement" often sounds to the husband like "perpetual dissatisfaction."

--John Bytheway, Behind Every Good Man

Guilty as charged! Thanks for the book, Em. :)

  1. Haha! That's fabulous... And who isn't guilty of this at times? I just tell Nate that I chasten him because I love him (slightly sacrilegious?) Anyway, he's learned how to deal with me a little better. I think he said a prayer not too long ago where he thanked Heavenly Father that I "bug him to be better out of love" or something along those lines... haha!

Yes, we need to be nicer wives. But they also need to be able to take a little "encouragement" ;)

  2. Haha, love it ladies. I would also be found guilty as charged. The trick is, I guess, learning how to encourage via "the back door?" Or perhaps better said, learning how to honestly encourage and actively support without communicating dissatisfaction or disappointment? While I have had to learn to bite my tongue often more than I would like, I still believe it important that we strive to bring out the best in each other. It seems that the most effective way of doing so, however, is usually not via words.
